LG Innotek Partners with Applied Intuition, Plans to Go Beyond Autonomous Driving and Lead Physical AI Market

2 weeks ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI - LG Innotek and Applied Intuition have formed a strategic partnership, driven by LG Innotek’s efforts to lead the physical artificial intelligence (AI) market. Applied Intuition is a US-based company that specializes in autonomous driving software.

Applied Intuition is known as a major player in autonomous driving software and simulation tools, with 18 of the world's 20 largest automakers as its clients. LG Innotek plans to expand this partnership beyond autonomous driving and dive into new areas such as drones and robotics.

Through the partnership, LG Innotek will leverage Applied Intuition's software and test vehicles to refine its autonomous driving sensor modules. By operating vehicles in regions such as the United States, Europe, Japan, and other markets, the company will be able to collect vast amounts of real-world driving data, including information on road infrastructure, traffic patterns, and climate conditions.

In Korea, LG Innotek also plans to conduct autonomous driving trials with Applied Intuition's software. This allows LG Innotek to evaluate new technologies under development, such as multi-sensor solutions that combine cameras, LiDAR, and radar, through real-world testing.

This Collaboration Can Attract Clients to Use LG Innotek’s Products

Furthermore, LG Innotek will integrate its virtual sensors that use digital twin technology to mimic the characteristics of cameras, LiDAR, and radar in a virtual environment into Applied Intuition's simulation tool. This allows automakers to obtain data that closely resembles real-world test results through simulation.

LG Innotek stated that automakers that use the company’s sensor technology in the development phase are more likely to use the same product for mass production.

"By integrating sensors and software, this solution can simplify the system design and validation process, significantly reducing development time and accelerating the launch of autonomous vehicles," the company said.

CEO of LG Innotek, Moon Hyuk-soo, said that with this collaboration, LG Innotek can provide customers with new solutions for autonomous driving and become a global leader in the era of physical AI.

Conclusion

LG Innotek has entered into a strategic partnership with Applied Intuition to strengthen its position in the global physical AI market by developing autonomous driving solutions based on integrated hardware and software. Through this collaboration, LG Innotek will leverage Applied Intuition's software and simulations to refine its sensor modules and collect real-world driving data from various regions.
