With a tittle, "AI Sovereignty to Empower Indonesia," the report highlights that 83.6% of respondents not only have heard of AI but are also familiar with the technology.
This finding reflects a growing awareness of AI as a transformative force in society. The survey, conducted from September 25 to November 15, 2024, involved 1,255 respondents through random sampling and face-to-face interviews.
The report defines AI as technology that enables machines to mimic human intelligence, allowing them to perform tasks such as learning, problem-solving, pattern recognition, and decision-making. Beyond awareness, the survey also explored how Indonesians perceive and interact with AI-powered technologies, revealing both optimism and concerns about its implications.

When asked to identify AI-powered technologies, 36.9% of respondents mentioned chatbot, an application designed to answer user queries.
The rapid rise of chatbots like ChatGPT, Gemini, and DeepSeek over the past two years has made them the most recognizable AI product among Indonesians. These tools have become integral to daily life, offering assistance in communication, customer service, and information retrieval.
Beyond chatbots, respondents identified several other AI-driven technologies they encounter regularly. Smart CCTV systems capable of identifying unfamiliar individuals were recognized by 34.6% of respondents, while 33.9% mentioned automated article generators. Smartwatches that track exercise and sleep patterns were noted by 32.7% of respondents, and e-commerce websites that recommend products based on user history were identified by 31.8%.
