6 days ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has partnered with domestic artificial intelligence (AI) startups to strengthen efforts in combating online gambling while also enhancing the quality of information across the digital space.

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, stated that this collaboration represents a concrete step by the government in leveraging AI technology to address urgent public issues in the digital ecosystem.

“The innovations developed by Gambit Hunter and Ambisius Lab demonstrate that Indonesian talent is not merely technology users, but also capable of creating AI-based solutions that are highly relevant to national needs,” Meutya said at the Ministry’s office on Friday, April 10, 2026.

According to her, the government is currently prioritizing the development of artificial intelligence as a key pillar of national digital transformation, with a vision to build ethical, responsible AI that enhances Indonesia’s global competitiveness.

AI Powered Approach to Combat Online Gambling

She highlighted Gambit Hunter’s innovation as an example, offering a new approach to tackling online gambling through AI utilization. The technology is considered capable of identifying and tracing payment infrastructures, which are a critical component of such illegal operations.

“This approach aligns closely with the government’s policy direction, which focuses on strengthening enforcement from upstream to infrastructure levels, rather than only addressing surface-level content,” she explained.

Strengthening Information Quality Through AI Innovation

Another innovation comes from Ambisius Lab through its product, Ambisius News, which addresses the challenge of maintaining information quality in the digital space.

“This initiative involves developing AI systems to curate, verify, and compare news from various trusted sources. It is a crucial step in fostering a healthier information ecosystem,” she added.

Meutya emphasized that both innovations represent two key aspects of digital governance: strengthening security and improving information quality, as well as enhancing public digital literacy.

“The government will continue to promote AI development through strengthened innovation, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and the expansion of impactful use cases that directly benefit society,” she concluded.

She also expressed hope that the meeting would mark the beginning of more concrete collaboration between the government and national startups, enabling homegrown innovations to deliver broad and sustainable benefits for the Indonesian public.

Conclusion

This collaboration underscores the government’s commitment to harnessing artificial intelligence as a strategic tool in addressing critical digital challenges. By partnering with local startups, the initiative not only strengthens efforts to combat online gambling and misinformation, but also highlights the growing capability of Indonesia’s digital talent. Moving forward, sustained collaboration and innovation are expected to drive a more secure, reliable, and inclusive digital ecosystem for society.
