Indosat Expands AI Adoption to Empower Women-Led Micro and Small Businesses

17 hours ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI - Growing demand for digital services has driven a significant increase in data traffic across Indosat's Central Sumatra Region, which recorded a 26% year-on-year (YoY) growth during the first half of 2026.

The surge reflects the rising adoption of digital technologies for communication, information access, and business activities, as more individuals and enterprises rely on digital services to enhance productivity.

To accommodate this growing demand, Indosat has strengthened its network infrastructure by deploying more than 13,000 4G Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) across the region. The company has also accelerated its 5G network expansion, reaching over 200 5G BTS by the end of the second quarter of 2026.

According to Indosat, these investments are aimed at delivering a better digital experience while expanding access to advanced connectivity for communities throughout Central Sumatra.

AI Initiative Supports Women-Led MSMEs and Digital Inclusion

Beyond infrastructure development, the company is also promoting the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) to empower businesses, particularly women-led micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Through its SheHacks 2026 program in Pekanbaru, Indosat provides AI training and digital skills development to women entrepreneurs, helping them leverage AI for business management, innovation, and improved competitiveness.

The initiative forms part of the company's #LebihBaikIndosat campaign, which encourages the inclusive use of technology as a driver of digital transformation and economic growth, extending beyond traditional communication services.

Indosat has also expanded customer access by opening integrated IM3 Stores and 3Stores in Muara Bungo, Bangkinang, and Dumai, enabling customers to conveniently access official products, services, and digital solutions.

By combining network expansion, AI adoption, and broader customer service accessibility, Indosat aims to accelerate digital ecosystem growth while supporting sustainable economic development across the Central Sumatra region.

Conclusion

Indosat continues to strengthen Central Sumatra's digital ecosystem by expanding its 4G and 5G infrastructure while promoting AI adoption among women-led MSMEs. Through enhanced connectivity, digital skills development, and broader customer services, the company aims to accelerate inclusive digital transformation and foster sustainable economic growth across the region.
