Jakarta, INTI - Young people in Papua now have a new space to develop digital skills and connect with Indonesia’s broader technology ecosystem. The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), with support from Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH), has launched the Garuda Spark Innovation Hub (GSIH) Jayapura at the Indosat AI Experience Center (AIEC) Jayapura.
Digital Talent Development
GSIH is designed as a platform that connects digital talent with government, industry, academia, communities, and national technology networks. In Jayapura, the initiative is tailored to the potential and needs of local talent while providing greater access to learning opportunities, skills development, and collaboration.
The launch of GSIH Jayapura was also part of a nationwide program connected via livestream to the main event in BSD, South Tangerang. During the event, Indonesian Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid interacted with the Indosat team in Jayapura and witnessed the introduction of the Indosat Game Center Jayapura, which forms part of the GSIH ecosystem in the city.
The connection between BSD and Jayapura reflects GSIH’s mission to link talent from different regions with the wider digital ecosystem. By developing capabilities at the local level while providing access to national networks, young Papuans can move beyond simply using technology to developing ideas, creating solutions, and contributing to Indonesia’s growing digital economy.
Meutya Hafid, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs of Indonesia, said, “Jayapura plays an important role in developing digital talent in Papua. With the growing potential of young people, academics, and communities, Garuda Spark Innovation Hub is expected to connect more local talent with development programs, industry, and opportunities at the national level. We appreciate Indosat’s support in making this collaboration possible.”
Local government support is also an important part of building the ecosystem. Jayapura Mayor Dr. Abisai Rollo, S.H., M.H., welcomed GSIH as an opportunity to strengthen the capabilities of Papua’s younger generation.
“We welcome the presence of Garuda Spark Innovation Hub in Jayapura as a space that can create more opportunities for young Papuans to learn, innovate, and connect with developments in the national digital economy. Collaboration between government, education, industry, and communities is important to ensure local talent can become not only technology users, but also creators of new solutions and opportunities from Papua,” Rollo said.
As part of its support, Indosat has introduced the Indosat Game Center Jayapura, providing young people and gaming communities with a space to gather, interact, and develop creativity through positive digital activities. The facility complements GSIH’s role as a hub for digital talent and community development in Papua.

Expanding Papua’s Digital Ecosystem
The presence of GSIH also expands the role of the Indosat AI Experience Center Jayapura, which has been operating since May 20, 2025, as Indosat’s second AI Experience Center in Indonesia. With the addition of GSIH and the Indosat Game Center, the facility is becoming an increasingly important space for communities in Papua to explore technology, develop skills, and connect with digital communities and opportunities.
Through collaboration with Komdigi, local governments, communities, and other stakeholders, Indosat continues to support wider access to technology and digital talent development across Indonesia. In Jayapura, the initiative forms part of a national effort to ensure talent from Eastern Indonesia is connected to the opportunities and growth of Indonesia’s digital ecosystem.
