11 hours ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI - Indonesia’s first dedicated AI campus has officially been established in Yogyakarta through the launch of Politeknik AI Budi Mulia Dua (PLAI BMD), which began operating in April 2025 in Sleman, Special Region of Yogyakarta.

The institution was founded to address the rapidly growing demand for digital and artificial intelligence talent in Indonesia, with the country projected to require millions of skilled AI professionals by 2030. PLAI BMD adopts a vocational-based education system designed to produce industry-ready graduates through a curriculum composed of 60 percent practical learning and 40 percent theoretical study.

To strengthen students’ readiness for the workforce, the campus collaborates with more than 15 industry partners, providing hands-on experience and direct exposure to real-world technology applications.

Vocational Learning and Industry Collaboration

PLAI BMD currently offers three applied bachelor’s degree (D4) programs: Artificial Intelligence and Robotics, Applied Data Science, and Cybersecurity Engineering. Regular tuition fees for the 2026 academic year are estimated at around Rp3.1 million to Rp3.2 million per month.

The institution also provides several scholarship programs, including AINOVATION, PRESTASI, and HAFIZ/HAFIZAH scholarships, which significantly reduce tuition costs and can even provide full financial support for high-achieving students and Qur’an memorizers.

Conclusion

The establishment of Indonesia’s first AI-focused campus in Yogyakarta reflects the country’s growing commitment to developing digital and AI talent through industry-oriented education, practical training, and accessible scholarship opportunities.
