Jakarta, INTI - Public internet access continues to expand across Indonesia to support communities in a wide range of public spaces and essential facilities. Throughout 2026, internet services have been made available at 31,864 locations nationwide, strengthening digital connectivity for education, government services, healthcare, and other community needs.
Educational facilities accounted for the largest share, with connectivity reaching 21,722 locations. Government offices followed with 6,384 locations, while healthcare facilities received internet access at 1,887 locations.
Expanding Digital Access Across Communities
The expansion also extends to other areas serving communities, including defense and security facilities, community activity centers, places of worship, tourism destinations, and public transportation locations. By extending connectivity beyond conventional facilities, the initiative aims to make internet access more accessible across different aspects of daily life.
The broader connectivity expansion is part of the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs’ (Komdigi) efforts over the past two years to improve digital access and create greater opportunities for communities to participate in the digital environment.
Expanding public internet infrastructure can also help bridge connectivity gaps between different regions and ensure that more communities have access to digital services and information. With connectivity reaching education, government, healthcare, and public spaces, Indonesia is continuing to strengthen the foundations needed for broader digital participation.
The continued expansion reflects the importance of reliable internet access as digital services become increasingly integrated into education, public administration, healthcare, community activities, and other areas of society.
Conclusion
Indonesia’s continued expansion of public internet access is strengthening digital connectivity across essential facilities and community spaces. With more than 31,000 locations connected in 2026, the initiative supports broader access to digital services while helping create greater opportunities for communities to participate in Indonesia’s growing digital ecosystem.
