Jakarta, INTI – Monday, September 29, 2025 Amid the growing challenges in education that demand greater adaptability to technological developments, Google has introduced a solution through the Google Student Ambassador program. The initiative officially selected 800 students from various universities across Indonesia after a rigorous selection process that filtered 12,000 applicants from 763 institutions. Over the course of one year, participants will receive intensive training in artificial intelligence (AI), particularly generative AI, with the goal of nurturing change agents in the education sector.
Rigorous Selection for the Best Students
According to Google Indonesia’s Communications Manager, Feliciana Wienathan, the selection process involved several stages. Students were required to submit a video interview outlining their vision if chosen, as well as complete an essay challenge using Gemini, Google’s AI platform. From thousands of applicants, only 800 were successfully selected as Google Student Ambassadors.
Exclusive Opportunities for Participants
As part of the program, students will gain access to world-class training opportunities. These include one-on-one mentoring with Google experts, generative AI workshops, and exclusive leadership sessions. Participants are also eligible to pursue the Generative AI Leader Certification, equipping them with the credentials to lead AI adoption in educational settings.
Gemini AI Supports the Learning Process
Google has also introduced its Gemini technology as additional support for participants. The Guided Learning feature provides personalized assistance by breaking down complex concepts step by step. Meanwhile, its visual learning capability integrates high-quality images, diagrams, and YouTube videos directly into responses, helping students grasp challenging topics more easily. Additionally, Gemini comes with an Exam Prep feature that generates flashcards and customized study guides to strengthen comprehension and prepare for examinations.
Hopes for the Future of Education
Feliciana emphasized that the selected students are not merely participants, but potential leaders of change. “We hope this will be meaningful, as they are agents of change and leaders of change who can drive more positive uses of AI, particularly in education,” she stated. Through this program, Google aspires to foster a new generation of young people capable of leveraging AI ethically and effectively, advancing the quality of education in Indonesia.
Conclusion
With the launch of the Google Student Ambassador program, 800 Indonesian students now have the opportunity to become key drivers of digital transformation in education. Through AI training, access to Gemini technology, and expert mentorship, they are expected to create tangible changes in how learning, teaching, and technology adoption evolve in the digital era.
