Jakarta, INTI - PT PLN (Persero) continues to strengthen its support for Indonesia’s growing digital ecosystem by providing reliable electricity infrastructure for the data center industry.
The commitment is demonstrated through the provision of a 2×725 Megavolt Ampere (MVA) power supply, complemented by premium electricity services, for Digital Edge Indonesia’s data center facility located in Cikarang, West Java.
The announcement was made during the topping-off ceremony of Digital Edge Indonesia’s CGK1 data center facility. Once completed, the facility is expected to become the largest power-capacity data center in Indonesia.
Strategic Partnership to Accelerate Indonesia’s Digital and AI Economy
The strategic collaboration between PLN and Digital Edge Indonesia is seen as an important step in strengthening the foundation of the country’s digital infrastructure. The partnership also supports Indonesia’s ambition to enhance its position as one of Southeast Asia’s leading digital economy hubs.
Digital Edge Indonesia CEO Stephanus Oscar emphasized that access to a reliable and scalable electricity supply is a critical factor in the development of large-scale data center operations.
“The topping-off of CGK1, supported by the largest electricity supply agreement in Indonesia’s data center history, reflects our confidence in the country’s long-term digital growth,” Oscar said.
According to him, the development of the data center campus is not only intended to meet today’s digital infrastructure demands but also to strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness in the rapidly evolving artificial intelligence (AI) era.
“Together with PLN, we are not simply building a data center, we are laying the foundation for Indonesia to compete at the highest level of the global AI economy. The CGK Campus is designed to grow alongside the nation’s ambitions,” he added.
Previously, Digital Edge Indonesia and PLN signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in October 2025, securing an electricity supply capacity of 2×650 MVA to support operations at the Cikarang facility.
As Digital Edge Indonesia accelerated its expansion plans and required uninterrupted 24/7 operations, the power allocation was subsequently increased to 2×725 MVA.
The capacity enhancement will be implemented gradually through 2030 to accommodate future facility expansion and the growing demand for data center services. The additional power supply is expected to support the increasing needs of cloud computing, AI workloads, digital services, and enterprise data processing, further reinforcing Indonesia’s role in the region’s digital transformation journey.
With demand for digital infrastructure continuing to rise, investments in reliable energy supply and hyperscale data center development are becoming increasingly important for sustaining economic growth, attracting technology investments, and supporting the next generation of AI-driven innovation.
Conclusion
The collaboration between PT PLN (Persero) and Digital Edge Indonesia represents a strategic milestone in strengthening Indonesia’s digital infrastructure. By securing a large-scale and scalable electricity supply, the partnership not only supports the rapid growth of hyperscale data centers but also reinforces Indonesia’s ambition to become a leading digital economy hub in Southeast Asia. With increasing demand for AI, cloud computing, and enterprise digital services, reliable energy infrastructure will remain a key foundation for future technological and economic growth.
