Jakarta, INTI - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, through its data center operating company NeutraDC (PT Telkom Data Ekosistem), continues to strengthen national and regional digital infrastructure development through its joint venture data center, NeutraDC Nxera Batam. The first data center facility in Batam (BTM-1), scheduled to commence operations this year, has already secured commitments for its entire available capacity.
The strong market demand has prompted Telkom to begin preparations for the development of a second facility, BTM-2, aimed at expanding capacity and addressing the growing need for data center services across the SIJORI (Singapore–Johor–Riau) region.
One of the strategic partners that has secured capacity at BTM-1 is Gorilla Technology, a London-headquartered global provider of AI, security, and data analytics solutions with operations across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas. Under the recently signed agreement, Gorilla Technology will leverage NeutraDC Nxera Batam’s data center infrastructure to support AI deployment and the expansion of digital services throughout Asia.
The presence of global partners such as Gorilla Technology further strengthens NeutraDC Nxera Batam’s position as a regional digital infrastructure hub capable of supporting the growing demands of AI, cloud computing, and digital services.
Telkom Accelerates Digital Infrastructure Expansion in Southeast Asia
Telkom’s Director of Strategic Business Development & Portfolio, Seno Soemadji, stated that this achievement reflects TelkomGroup’s continued transformation into a digital infrastructure company, one of the key pillars of its TLKM 30 strategy. The strong confidence demonstrated by global partners in NeutraDC highlights Indonesia’s growing significance, particularly Batam’s role, within the rapidly evolving regional digital ecosystem.
“This achievement validates Telkom’s transformation strategy to build a more focused, competitive, and value-driven business portfolio. As demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital services continues to rise across Southeast Asia, we believe digital infrastructure will serve as a fundamental pillar of the future digital economy,” said Seno.
According to him, Batam is becoming increasingly important as one of Indonesia’s key digital connectivity gateways, linking the domestic market with the broader regional digital ecosystem. Strengthening data center capabilities in Batam not only supports the needs of existing partners but also enhances Indonesia’s readiness to capture opportunities arising from a more integrated regional digital economy.
“Through the development of world-class digital infrastructure, Telkom aims to ensure that Indonesia is not merely a digital market but also a vital contributor to the regional digital ecosystem. This initiative aligns with the TLKM 30 vision of creating new growth engines, strengthening national competitiveness, and generating sustainable value for Indonesia and its stakeholders,” he added.
Driving Regional Growth Through Sustainable Data Center Development
NeutraDC Group CEO Andreuw Th. A.F. emphasized that securing global strategic partners such as Gorilla Technology represents an important milestone in accelerating the development of a world-class data center ecosystem in Indonesia.
“We are delighted to welcome Gorilla Technology and other global partners to NeutraDC Nxera Batam,” Andreuw said.
Beyond supporting the digital industry, the development of NeutraDC Nxera Batam is also expected to generate significant social and economic benefits for local communities. The data center is projected to create new employment opportunities, foster local digital talent development, stimulate regional economic activity, and enhance Batam’s attractiveness as a technology and digital investment destination.
NeutraDC Nxera Batam CEO Indrama YM Purba added that Batam has strong potential to become one of Southeast Asia’s strategic digital data hub locations.
“Batam offers a highly attractive environment, supported by robust international connectivity, close proximity to regional economic centers, and a continuously improving investment climate. We continue to see strong demand for data center capacity across the SIJORI region, which serves as the foundation for our future expansion plans in Batam,” he said.
The development of NeutraDC Nxera Batam’s 100 MW capacity is also being carried out with a strong focus on sustainability and operational efficiency, in line with TelkomGroup’s commitment to delivering sustainable digital infrastructure. The company continues to prioritize energy-efficient technologies, globally recognized operational standards, and development practices that support environmental sustainability.
As demand for artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, and digital services accelerates across Southeast Asia, NeutraDC Nxera Batam is expected to become a key foundation for advancing Indonesia’s digital transformation while strengthening the country’s position as a leading regional digital hub.
Conclusion
As Southeast Asia experiences rapid growth in AI adoption, cloud computing, and digital services, NeutraDC Nxera Batam is positioned to play a pivotal role in supporting the region’s digital transformation. With strong demand from global technology players, continued capacity expansion, and a commitment to sustainable infrastructure development, the facility reinforces Indonesia’s ambition to become a leading digital infrastructure and data center hub in the region.
