6 months ago | Drone Industry

Jakarta, INTI – In an exclusive interview with INTI Media at the INTI Expo 2025 held at JIExpo, Mona Arif Muda, Coordinator of the Indonesian Robot Contest Jury, shared her insights on the potential and future direction of the drone industry in Indonesia. She emphasized the importance of strengthening human resources (HR) and cross-sector collaboration to build national drone technology independence.

Universities Support Local Drone Development
Mona highlighted the strategic role of universities in nurturing top talent in drone technology, leveraging the demographic bonus to strengthen domestic HR. “Through the Indonesian Flying Robot Contest, students are trained to design and operate industry-ready independent drones,” she said.

Collaboration as the Key to a National Drone Ecosystem
Mona stressed that laboratory innovation alone is not enough; education must have real-world impact through collaboration with industry, government, and related institutions. “We need to move outward, collaborate with various stakeholders, so that education truly benefits the real world,” she explained.

Optimism for Drone Technology Independence
Mona is optimistic that Indonesia’s domestic content level (TKDN) in drones will rise from 40% to 60% within five years. “Through research and industry collaboration, components that were previously imported can be produced locally, strengthening drone technology independence,” she added.

Conclusion
Mona emphasized that collaboration between universities, government, and industry is a crucial foundation for strengthening the national drone ecosystem. With ongoing research and local HR development, Indonesia has a strong opportunity to achieve drone technology independence and become a major global player.
