Jakarta, INTI - A test module of China’s commercial crewed spacecraft CYZ1 successfully completed an integrated verification test of its landing support system with satisfactory results, according to a statement released by its developer, InterstlellOr, on Sunday.
“All performance indicators met the design targets, with key metrics exceeding expectations,” a representative of InterstellOr said.
The test accurately simulated a real-world landing scenario following the capsule’s re-entry into Earth’s atmosphere.
Realistic Simulation, Flawless Damping System Performance
During the test, the five-ton test capsule was lifted to a height of more than three meters above the ground before being released in accordance with the designated release command.
Throughout the free-fall phase, the capsule’s descent speed was stably controlled by the main parachute.
The landing damping system activated instantly without any delay, as retro-thrusters expelled high-pressure gas to generate a stable counter-thrust.
Meanwhile, the energy-absorbing structure at the base of the capsule worked in precise coordination with the damping system, delivering effective deceleration within an extremely short travel distance.
“Post-test inspections confirmed a smooth damping sequence, the capsule structure remained intact, and onboard equipment functioned normally,” InterstellOr said.
These results indicate that the newly developed landing damping system is highly viable and reliable for supporting crewed space missions.
A Strong Foundation for the Next Development Phase
InterstellOr’s technical team will conduct a comprehensive analysis for the test data to further refine the parameters of the landing system.
This step serves as a critical foundation for the continued development of the CYZ1 spacecraft, which is designed to support China’s future commercial crewed space missions.
Conclusion
The successful landing system test marks a significant milestone in the development of the CYZ1 spacecraft, reinforcing InterstellOr’s readiness to advance toward reliable commercial crewed space missions and strengthening China’s growing capabilities in human spaceflight technology.
