Jakarta, INTI – Several private entities from Indonesia and China have collaborated to establish the AI Blockchain Centre Indonesia (ABCI). This innovation hub focuses on the development of artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain technology, and automation. The presence of ABCI is expected to accelerate Indonesia's digital transformation towards a knowledge-based economy.
ABCI was born from a collaboration between key stakeholders from Indonesia and China, including FORU AI. This initiative aims to bring together industry players, researchers, and policymakers to explore the potential of AI and blockchain across various sectors.
Pang Xue Kai, founder of FORU AI and former CEO of Tokocrypto, has been appointed as the leader of ABCI. Tokocrypto itself is the largest cryptocurrency exchange in Southeast Asia, which was later acquired by Binance. Kai emphasized that ABCI is not merely a research center but also a catalyst for innovation with real-world impact on Indonesia.
"With a private sector-led approach, we have the agility to move quickly, experiment boldly, and drive innovations that bring tangible benefits to Indonesia," said Kai.
As a bridge between research, business, and policy, ABCI will explore AI and blockchain applications in various fields, including:
To accelerate the development of innovative solutions, ABCI has also established the AI, Blockchain & Automation Innovation Fund. This fund aims to support startups and companies that implement cutting-edge technologies in their respective industries.
"This fund transforms ABCI from a research center into an active incubator for Indonesia’s technological future," Kai stated. "By investing in companies that leverage AI, blockchain, and automation to solve real-world challenges, we create a direct pathway from innovation to implementation."
ABCI’s approach to digital transformation is built upon six strategic pillars:
Indonesia’s Ambassador to China and Mongolia, Djauhari Oratmangun, also expressed appreciation for this initiative.
"This partnership highlights the strength of Indonesia-China collaboration and the immense potential of private sector leadership in driving technological advancement. The AI Blockchain Centre Indonesia marks a historic milestone in Indonesia’s journey to becoming a global leader in AI, blockchain, and automation innovation."
Although ABCI operates as an independent private initiative, this innovation hub remains aligned with Indonesia's digital transformation vision. By focusing on AI, blockchain, and automation, ABCI is committed to accelerating cross-border innovation and creating a sustainable impact on the national technology ecosystem.
The presence of ABCI is expected not only to foster competitive AI- and blockchain-based startups but also to strengthen Indonesia’s innovation ecosystem, ensuring the country remains at the forefront of the global digital revolution.
AI Blockchain Centre Indonesia emerges as a catalyst for digital transformation, bridging technological innovation with real-world implementation. With investment support from the AI, Blockchain & Automation Innovation Fund, ABCI is committed to empowering digital talent, strengthening the technology ecosystem, and positioning Indonesia as a key player in the global AI and blockchain landscape. This strategic partnership marks a significant step forward in Indonesia’s leadership in the digital era, both regionally and globally.
