3 days ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI - In commemoration of Kartini Day in April 2026, PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) held a training program titled Kartini in Technology. This program, attended by 260 women MSME owners from various regions in Indonesia, aims to enhance their ability to utilize artificial intelligence (AI) technology as a strategic tool for business development amidst increasingly fierce digital competition.

The training focuses on practical skills that can be immediately applied in daily business activities. The material covers creating engaging marketing content and strengthening effective and measurable digital communication strategies. This approach is designed to ensure participants not only understand the theory but also directly implement technology in their business development.

37 Million MSME Owners are Women

This initiative is driven by the significant contribution of women to the national MSME ecosystem. Data from the Ministry of Communication and Digital in 2025 shows that approximately 64.5%, or 37 million MSME owners in Indonesia, are women. Overall, the MSME sector contributes approximately 60.5% to the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and absorbs nearly 97 percent of the Indonesian workforce.

This significant role makes women in MSMEs a vital pillar of the national economy. However, the acceleration of digitalization demands skills development that cannot be postponed. Utilizing technology, particularly AI, is an urgent need to ensure businesses remain relevant and competitive.

Hery Susanto, Senior General Manager of Social Responsibility at Telkom Indonesia, emphasized that empowering women through technology is a strategic step in creating an inclusive digital ecosystem.

"Telkom Indonesia is committed to providing equal access and opportunities in utilizing technology, especially for women in MSMEs. Kartini Day serves as a reminder that women are not only users but also creators capable of generating added value through technology. With the spirit of "Together We Can," we believe Indonesian women are capable of mastering AI to increase their business competitiveness," said Hery.

MSME Owners are Trained to Use Practical AI

Through Kartini in Technology, Telkom provides practical skills training, such as writing persuasive copywriting, creating professional product visuals with the help of AI, and producing AI-based promotional videos, which are now the most effective content format on various digital platforms.

This comprehensive approach aims to help MSMEs overcome the challenges of building their brand and expanding their market. With these skills, participants are expected to increase their business competitiveness without having to incur large marketing costs.

This program is also part of Telkom's commitment to providing inclusive digital literacy through the Community Service (TJSL) initiative, Bisa Pandai. This initiative emphasizes that digital literacy is not just about device usage, but also the ability to utilize technology wisely and productively to create economic value.

Kartini in Technology is an ongoing effort to strengthen an inclusive national digital ecosystem. This program also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly point 5 on gender equality and point 8 on decent work and inclusive economic growth. Telkom believes that empowering women through technology will have a multiplier effect on the national economy.

Through this program, Telkom encourages the public to not only become digitally literate but also to utilize technology wisely and productively in various aspects of life, including economic development.

PT Telkom Indonesia held Kartini in Technology program to train 260 women MSME owners in utilizing AI to grow their businesses.
