Jakarta, INTI — In an exclusive interview with Inti Media at INTI Expo 2025 held at JIExpo Kemayoran, Director of the Indonesian Industrial Robot Association (ASRII), Malik Khidir, stated that Indonesia’s robotics industry continues to grow rapidly. Currently, more than 2,500 robots are being used across various sectors, with an annual growth rate of around 15 percent. According to him, the presence of robotics is key to improving efficiency and the competitiveness of the national industry.
National Robotics Ecosystem
Malik noted that the main challenge for Indonesia’s robotics industry is the lack of an integrated ecosystem. He emphasized the importance of support from education, industry, and government in developing skilled human resources, local component industries, and after-sales services.
“The robotics ecosystem must be strong so that we are not only users but also producers of technology,” he explained.
Innovation and Industry Collaboration
Malik also appreciated the Ministry of Industry’s initiative in establishing the Indonesia Manufacturing Center (IMC), which will serve as a platform for collaboration between robotics players, academics, and industry users.
“IMC will bring together innovators and business actors to accelerate the national automation transformation,” Malik added.

Robotics technology is now widely applied in manufacturing, agriculture, and medical equipment, opening new opportunities for efficiency and innovation in various fields. Malik is optimistic that these developments will drive Indonesia towards technological independence and a smart industry in the future.
