Jakarta, INTI - PT Pelayaran Bahtera Adhiguna (PT BAg), a subsidiary of PLN Energi Primer Indonesia, held NAVTOR Software Training for navigation officers on 12 of the company's vessels. This activity was part of the company's efforts to improve crew competency and ensure that the ship's navigation system is always accurate, up-to-date, and ready for use.
Wai Yeen Khung, a NAVTOR trainer, presented material covering NavSync Online & Offline, NavTracker, updating e-Nautical Publications (e-NP) and Admiralty Digital Publications (ADP) using NavStick, and the Whitherby Connect Offline Reader. The training enhanced participants' understanding of vessel position monitoring, water conditions, route management, and electronic navigation chart updates.
Capt. Sunindya, Designated Person Ashore (DPA) of PT BAg, explained that regular familiarization is essential, particularly to ensure each crew member has adequate understanding and skills in operating the navigation equipment on board.
"Navigation chart updates are conducted weekly to ensure up-to-date information on buoys, rigs, and changing shipping conditions. Through this training, the crew is expected to understand the update process and be able to use the system appropriately to ensure safe shipping," said Captain Sunindya.
