Korlantas Polri Convenes FGD to Strengthen Data Center Security and Governance Frameworks

2 months ago | Data Center

Jakarta, INTI - Korlantas Polri held the 2026 ICT Division Focus Discussion (FGD) under the theme “Data Security and Standardization of Data Center Management” at Fave Hotel PGC on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

The event was officially opened by Arief Sugihartono, Head of Systems Development Subdivision of the ICT Division at Korlantas Polri. It was attended by academic representative Universitas Indonesia lecturer Setiadi Yazid, along with cybersecurity expert Arya Adhi Nugraha.

Arief explained that the FGD serves as a strategic step toward strengthening data governance within Korlantas Polri.

“This Focus Group Discussion carries the theme of standardizing data center management related to data security and operational standards. In today’s digital era, data has become a highly valuable strategic asset,” Arief said.

He emphasized that proper data management extends beyond technical requirements and reflects institutional responsibility in delivering public services.

“Secure, integrated, and standardized data management is not only an operational necessity but also an institutional responsibility in providing the best service to the public,” he continued.

According to him, many modern traffic services now rely heavily on technology-based systems and the reliability of data centers.

“Various technology-based traffic services, from electronic ticketing enforcement, vehicle registration, accident information systems, to data-driven traffic management, all depend on the reliability of data centers,” he explained.

Strengthening Data Security and Governance Frameworks

Arief Sugihartono further stressed the critical importance of data security and strong governance practices in building reliable and trustworthy digital systems within the institution.

“Data security and good governance are issues we cannot ignore. Through this Focus Group Discussion, we will address several key points that have become our shared focus, namely challenges in data security, compliance with regulations and standard operating procedures, data center governance and management, data center human resource readiness, incident handling, and risk mitigation,” Arief added.

From an academic perspective, Setiadi Yazid of the Faculty of Computer Science at Universitas Indonesia emphasized that the expanding scale of Korlantas Polri’s data center infrastructure must be accompanied by stronger governance frameworks and well-structured strategic planning.

“We need to clearly understand what we expect going forward, who we are serving, what assets we have, and what threats exist. There is the public we must serve, what we expect from them, and what they expect from us. From there, we can break things down in greater detail,” he explained.

Meanwhile, cybersecurity expert Arya Adhi Nugraha warned that cyber threats are escalating at an increasingly rapid pace, requiring constant adaptation by critical institutions such as Korlantas Polri.

“Cyber trends are no longer increasing year by year, but day by day and month by month, which makes it essential to adapt to the latest conditions. After all, Polri is a critical institution in Indonesia and represents the state itself. Therefore, it must always maintain the highest level of security because the risks are indeed high,” Arya concluded.

Conclusion

The Focus Group Discussion underscored the growing urgency of securing and standardizing data center operations within Indonesia’s critical public service infrastructure. By addressing governance frameworks, regulatory compliance, strategic planning, human resource readiness, and evolving cyber risks, Korlantas Polri is taking a proactive step toward building resilient and trustworthy digital systems.

As data becomes an increasingly strategic national asset, coordinated efforts between government institutions, academic experts, and cybersecurity professionals will be essential to ensuring sustainable, secure, and future-ready data center management.
