Komdigi Trains Civil Servants to Develop Strategic AI Solutions Through AI Connect Academy

7 months ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI – 9, September, 2025 The dominance of artificial intelligence (AI) use in the public sector for administrative services and chatbots has become a serious concern for the government. As a solution, the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), in collaboration with Google, launched AI Connect Academy, a training program designed to equip civil servants (ASN) with the skills to create more strategic AI innovations with broader impact on society.

Collaboration for Government Digital Talent

AI Connect Academy is part of the Bangkit Bersama AI initiative, a joint effort between Komdigi and Google. The program is designed to enhance the digital capabilities of civil servants, enabling them to be adaptive, innovative, and capable of leading the government’s digital transformation.

Raden Wijaya Kusuma, Expert Staff to the Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs for Social, Economic, and Cultural Affairs, emphasized that Indonesia must not stop at using AI only for administrative tasks. Civil servants are expected to become the driving force in delivering strategic AI-based solutions.

Driving the Target of 12 Million Digital Talents

According to Wijaya, this training aligns with the government’s target of producing 12 million digital talents by 2030. Data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS) in 2023 shows that the country currently has only about 1.1 million digital talents, or 0.81 percent of the total workforce. This gap highlights the urgent need for broader cross-sector collaboration.

“Civil servants must be at the forefront of digital competency, leading Indonesia’s digital transformation,” he said.

AI for Public Service Efficiency

Komdigi is also preparing a national AI roadmap that prioritizes the application of this technology in the public sector, including social protection systems. AI is expected to improve the accuracy of aid distribution, create more integrated public services, and strengthen public trust in government.

“With AI, government work can become more productive, efficient, and deliver better public service experiences,” Wijaya stressed.

Expectations from the AI Connect Academy Program

Furthermore, Komdigi hopes AI Connect Academy will serve as a best practice example for other ministries and agencies in developing AI adoption. The program is also expected to produce tangible innovations that directly benefit the public.

“Take this opportunity to create strategic AI solutions, not just administrative chatbots,” Wijaya concluded.

Conclusion

The launch of AI Connect Academy underscores Komdigi’s strong commitment to accelerating digital transformation within the government. Through its collaboration with Google, the program not only equips civil servants with new skills but also strengthens Indonesia’s foundation in building a strategic AI ecosystem with a far-reaching impact on society.
