10 hours ago | Digital Technology

Jakarta, INTI - The Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) has called for the use of technology to strengthen national unity, create opportunities, and deliver tangible benefits to communities as Indonesia marks its 81st Independence Day on Monday, August 17, 2026.

Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid delivered the message through a video recording uploaded to Komdigi’s official Instagram account, @kemkomdigi.

“In the digital era, let us make technology a force to strengthen unity, create opportunities, and deliver benefits for all Indonesians,” Meutya said.

Meutya also reminded the public that Indonesia was built on a spirit of struggle, unity, and mutual cooperation, values that must continue to be upheld amid changing times.

“For 81 years, Indonesia has stood on a spirit of struggle, unity, and mutual cooperation. We must continue to uphold that spirit and build an Indonesia that is increasingly advanced, sovereign, and prosperous,” she said.

Optimising Technology for Public Services

The government is utilising digital technology to improve various public services, including education, healthcare, business, and social services.

In the social services sector, the government is digitising the Social Protection System, known as Perlinsos Digital, to optimise the distribution of assistance to people in need.

As of August 2026, three million families across 153 regencies and cities in Indonesia had been registered in the Perlinsos Digital system during its trial period.

The digitalisation initiative aims to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of government social assistance programmes.

Perlinsos Digital Targeted to Reach 49 Million Families

The government aims for Perlinsos Digital to reach 49 million families across Indonesia once the system is implemented nationwide.

The adoption of digital systems is part of the government’s efforts to improve public services while ensuring that technology delivers broader benefits to communities.

Komdigi also continues to position technology as a means of strengthening national unity and creating opportunities for Indonesians, in line with the spirit of Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day.

Conclusion

Komdigi’s call highlights the role of digital technology not only in driving national progress but also in strengthening unity and improving public services. Through initiatives such as Perlinsos Digital, the government seeks to ensure that technology creates wider opportunities and delivers tangible benefits for communities across Indonesia.
