IPB University Partners with South Korea to Develop Solar Energy Solutions Integrating Agriculture and Electric Vehicles

7 hours ago | Green Industrial

Jakarta, INTI - IPB University has partnered with ENVELOPS Co. Ltd., with support from the Korea Energy Agency (KEA), to develop renewable energy by integrating agrivoltaic (APV) technology and electric mobility (e-mobility) at the IPB Dramaga Campus in Bogor, West Java.

The collaboration is part of the 2026 Korea–Developing Country Climate Change Cooperation Official Development Assistance (ODA) Project, which connects solar power generation, agricultural activities, and electric vehicle charging facilities.

The initiative aims to support the energy transition while strengthening the implementation of a green campus concept.

Heti Mulyati, Vice Rector of IPB University for Resource and Infrastructure Resilience, said the development of electric vehicles must be supported by interconnected energy supplies, infrastructure, and policies.

IPB Integrates Solar Energy with Agriculture and Electric Vehicles

IPB University is promoting agrivoltaic technology, which combines solar energy generation with agricultural activities.

The technology is being developed alongside electric mobility systems to enable renewable energy to support transportation needs.

As part of the collaboration, IPB hosted an Agrivoltaic & E-Mobility Awareness Workshop at its Dramaga Campus in Bogor.

The event provided a platform to discuss renewable energy development connecting agriculture, technology, and transportation.

The project also involves ENVELOPS Co. Ltd., with support from the Korea Energy Agency through its 2026 climate change cooperation program.

IPB Develops Green Campus Policies and Charging Infrastructure

Heti Mulyati emphasized that transitioning to electric vehicles requires more than simply providing electric cars.

According to her, the transition also depends on suitable charging infrastructure and supportive policies.

“This also requires appropriate charging infrastructure and supporting policies. We are currently preparing policies that connect green campuses, green transportation, and green energy,” she said.

IPB University aims to align renewable energy development with environmental management and transportation policies across its campus.

Through this integrated approach, solar energy facilities are expected to become part of a more connected electric transportation system.

Agrivoltaic Project to Support Research and Education

Beyond promoting renewable energy adoption, the agrivoltaic and electric mobility project is also intended to support academic activities.

Heti explained that developing these technologies requires a multidisciplinary approach encompassing agriculture, technology, economics, and social considerations.

This approach is necessary to ensure that practical implementation addresses a range of needs and challenges.

IPB hopes the planned facilities will serve as learning and research resources for studying the integration of solar energy with agricultural activities.

The project could also create opportunities for collaboration among universities, industry, and local communities.

Through this international partnership, IPB University aims to advance renewable energy technologies that support agriculture, electric transportation, and academic research across its campus.

Conclusion

IPB University’s partnership with South Korea marks a step toward integrating renewable energy, agriculture, and electric mobility. Through agrivoltaic technology and EV charging infrastructure, the initiative aims to support sustainable campus development while creating opportunities for research, education, and green innovation.
