Instagram Launched Instants Feature for Uploading Unedited Authentic Photos

Jakarta, INTI - On May 13, Instagram launched a new feature called Instants, allowing users to share ephemeral content that disappears automatically. According to an announcement in a Instagram’s blog post, Instants allow users to share photos with Close Friends or mutual followers. Photos can only be viewed once and will disappear after 24 hours.

Unlike Instagram posts, which are typically edited with filters, Instants are designed for spontaneous content. Users cannot edit photos and cannot upload photos from their gallery. Users can add text to the photos they are posting, but they cannot modify them further. Meta said the idea behind this format is to share authentic moments as they happen.

After Instants Photos are Uploaded

After sharing Instant content, viewers can can react and reply, with replies going straight to DMs. Instagram also wrote in the blog post that viewers cannot screenshot or record the Instants photos.

Instagram will store Instants shared by users in a private archive that can be viewed for up to one year. Users then can reshare the archives as a recap to Instagram Stories.

Instants feature is accessible in the Instagram app and through its standalone app, also called Instants. In the Instagram app, users can access the Instants feature by going to Instagram inbox and tap the mini stack of photos at the bottom right corner.

Instagram stated that they are currently experimenting in several countries. The standalone app will be available for iOS and Android.
