Jakarta, INTI - The Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with PT Indosat Tbk on digital transformation at the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board’s office on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board, Haedar Nashir, welcomed the partnership and expressed his appreciation for Indosat’s initiative. He said the MoU builds on an earlier meeting between Indosat’s management and Muhammadiyah leadership.

Haedar expressed hope that Muhammadiyah’s digitalization efforts across various institutions could become faster and more efficient through the partnership with Indosat.

He added that digital transformation and AI development initiatives within Muhammadiyah-affiliated universities, known as Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah ‘Aisyiyah (PTMA), as well as Muhammadiyah’s charitable and business institutions (AUM), have expanded significantly across the organization.

Through the partnership, these programs are expected to reach a broader scale and gain stronger support for further development.

Director and Chief Business Officer of PT Indosat Tbk, Muhammad Buldansyah, said the MoU is expected to become a meaningful step that benefits Muhammadiyah, Indosat, and Indonesian society as a whole.

Buldansyah expressed his appreciation for the collaboration, noting that Muhammadiyah, as one of Indonesia’s largest Islamic organizations, has an extensive presence across various sectors through its numerous institutions in Indonesia and abroad.

He said the partnership aligns with Muhammadiyah’s vision of building an ecosystem driven by digital transformation and represents the beginning of a long-term collaboration.

Buldansyah also highlighted the alignment between Indosat and Muhammadiyah in their shared goal of empowering Indonesian society.

“Indosat used to focus primarily on connecting people through telecommunications networks. Today, we also aim to empower communities,” he said.

Building a Connected Digital Ecosystem

As part of the partnership, Indosat has committed to serving as a technology partner by providing digital infrastructure and supporting the ICT revolution within the Muhammadiyah ecosystem.

This includes integrating Muhammadiyah members, AUM networks, and its various institutions into a connected digital ecosystem.

Buldansyah explained that Indosat provides telecommunications and digital solutions in Indonesia, including information technology infrastructure, digital security, connectivity, applications, cloud services, as well as data and analytics.

With these capabilities, he expressed confidence that Indosat’s expertise could help accelerate Muhammadiyah’s digital transformation and deliver a significant impact across its extensive network.

Conclusion

The partnership between Muhammadiyah and Indosat marks a strategic step toward accelerating digital transformation and AI development across Muhammadiyah’s extensive network. By combining Indosat’s digital infrastructure and technology capabilities with Muhammadiyah’s broad institutional network, the collaboration is expected to strengthen connectivity, digital services, and technology adoption while supporting broader community empowerment in Indonesia.
