5 hours ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI - Chinese home appliance manufacturer Haier is preparing to expand its product portfolio in Indonesia by launching a range of premium artificial intelligence (AI)-based devices.

These products will be introduced gradually as part of the company's strategy to strengthen its position in the Indonesian market, which is considered to have significant potential.

Zhang Qingfu, Vice President of Haier Smart Home Overseas, stated that the company has entered the AI era, making the development of smart technology a key focus in its product line, including for the Indonesian market.

"We have now entered the AI era. We have various AI-based products and smart home products, and we will gradually launch all of them in Indonesia," Zhang said.

Indonesia Becomes a Strategic Market for Haier

Zhang stated that the company has built a business foundation through production facilities and a distribution network to serve the needs of consumers in the country.

"Indonesia is an important market for us. We have established factories and distribution companies in Indonesia to help us serve Indonesian consumers," Zhang added.

Haier began operating in Indonesia in 2011 after acquiring Sanyo Electric's business and all its operations in the country. This move was followed by the establishment of PT Haier Electrical Appliances Indonesia (HEI).

Haier’s Challenge for Expansion in Indonesia

Zhang revealed that the biggest challenge in developing a business in Indonesia is its geographical location, which consists of many islands, requiring a unique strategy for product distribution.

"Therefore, transportation and logistics are a challenge. We are striving to build more distribution centers or regional distribution centers. We utilize our warehouse network to supply products to consumers more quickly and at a lower cost," Zhang explained.

He hopes that the Indonesian government, both at the central and regional levels, along with the Chinese government, can continue to create a conducive business climate.

Conclusion

Haier plans to expand its product portfolio in Indonesia by gradually launching a range of premium home appliances powered by artificial intelligence (AI). The company views Indonesia as a strategic market and has built a business foundation through production facilities and a distribution network to serve consumers in the country.
