Google Launches Nano Banana 2 with High-Speed Performance and Real-Time Features Powered by Gemini 3.1 Flash Image

3 months ago | Artificial Intelligence

Jakarta, INTI - Google has launched its latest AI image generation model, Nano Banana 2, powered by Gemini 3.1 Flash Image, which is claimed to be more advanced and faster than its predecessor.

The new model brings the capabilities, knowledge, and reasoning previously available in Nano Banana Pro, with significant improvements in processing speed.

Nano Banana 2 is said to complete editing tasks and generate multiple image variations from a single text prompt in a very short time.

Real-Time Features and 4K Resolution Support

With Nano Banana 2, several features previously exclusive to Nano Banana Pro are now available to more users in the Gemini app.

One of the new capabilities is pulling information and images in real time from web searches to create infographics or diagrams.

The model also supports direct text placement on images, which can be used for marketing materials or greeting cards.

Google stated that Nano Banana 2 can maintain the likeness of up to five characters in a single workflow, making it useful for users creating storyboards or visual narratives.

Additionally, the model can follow precise instructions for complex requests and generate images in up to 4K resolution.

Generated images are claimed to have richer textures and sharper details compared to previous versions.

Replacing Nano Banana Pro in the Gemini App

Previously, Nano Banana Pro was known for producing highly realistic images that were difficult to distinguish from actual photos, and high demand led Google to limit its use.

Nano Banana 2 will replace Nano Banana Pro as the main model in the Gemini app.

Google AI Pro and Ultra customers will still have access to Nano Banana Pro for specialized needs.

The new model will also become the default in the AI Mode feature in Search and Lens, and will be used in Google’s AI-based creative studio, Flow AI.

Conclusion

Nano Banana 2 sets a new benchmark for AI-powered image generation with faster processing, real-time web integration, and 4K output. By replacing Nano Banana Pro in the Gemini app, it offers broader access to advanced editing, text overlay, and multi-character workflows, reinforcing Google’s position at the forefront of creative AI tools.
