Jakarta, INTI – Google has again caught the attention of the technology world by announcing its latest artificial intelligence (AI) tool called Flow. This announcement was made at the annual Google I/O 2025 event held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
Flow comes as a creative AI platform that allows users to create short-duration cinematic videos, around eight seconds, by simply sending a prompt text and a reference image.
Creative Features: From Images to Cinematic Videos
Through Flow, users can combine images and text to create AI videos complete with visual and sound effects. For example, water sounds, conversations, or other background sounds can be automatically generated according to the video content.
Not only creating videos from scratch, Flow can also be used to edit and reorder videos that have already been created. Users can add audio, narration, change the atmosphere, or even change the camera angle and video ratio (horizontal or vertical) by simply entering a new command.
Unique Examples and Google Experiments
In its demonstration, Google showed how Flow works using unique prompts such as: “A jellyfish is swimming underwater in the back seat of a 1970s zebra skin taxi,” combining creative imagery with unexpected settings.
To support this,Google also added reference images such as jellyfish, a taxi, and a chair to strengthen the visual results. As a result, Flow was able to create a video that matched the provided visuals, complete with an aesthetic atmosphere and sound aligned with the scene. After that, Google even experimented with changing the characters in the video without altering the setting for example, showing scenes of surgeons, people cooking, or crafting all done in the back seat of the same taxi.
Powered by Advanced AI: Veo 3, Imagen 4, and Gemini
Flow does not stand alone. These tools work with the help of Google's most advanced AI models, such as:
- Veo 3 for creating high-quality cinematic videos.
- Imagen 4 for generating detailed images as prompted.
- Gemini AI as the main engine to understand and translate text commands into realistic visuals and sounds.
These combined technologies make Flow one of Google's most complex and creative AI tools so far.
Limited Access and Paid
Currently, Flow is still available on a limited basis only to users in the United States and only accepts prompts in English. Google promises to expand the tool's availability to more countries in the near future.
Flow is also not available for free. To use it, users must subscribe to one of the following two plans:
- Google AI Pro: USD 20 per month (approximately Rp 328,000), with a quota of creating 100 videos per month.
- Google AI Ultra: USD 250 per 3 months (approx. IDR 4.1 million), with more quota and premium features, including additional sound effects, narration, and access to exclusive features in Flow.
Other AI Model Support Also Updated
In addition to Flow, Google also updated some of its AI models at the same event. The Veo 3 model is now capable of producing videos with high quality, longer duration, and adding audio directly into the video.
Google also announced an update to Veo 2, which now features camera control and the ability to remove objects from videos. For illustrations and images, the Imagen 4 model comes with improvements to photo quality, text fidelity, and export in multiple formats.
Conclusion
Google Flow is a new step in the evolution of AI-based visual content. With a combination of cutting-edge technologies, Flow not only creates cinematic videos, but also opens up new opportunities in the world of digital content production. Although still limited in terms of access and paid, Flow shows the future direction of how AI can be utilized in fast, personalized, and professional multimedia creation.
