Google Injects Massive $75 Billion into AI and Global Cloud Infrastructure by 2025: Launches Advanced Networks and Chips

1 year ago | Data Center & Cloud Computing

Jakarta, INTI – Global tech giant Google has announced a major move to strengthen its dominance in the artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing industries with a massive investment plan worth $75 billion, approximately IDR 1,200 trillion, set for 2025.

The investment was announced directly by Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai during the annual Google Cloud Next 2025 conference, held at Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas, on Wednesday (April 8, local time).

“In 2025, we plan to invest approximately $75 billion in capital expenditures, supporting our AI infrastructure and cloud services,” Pichai emphasized.

Expanding the Global Digital Infrastructure

Google is aiming to bolster all aspects of AI innovation—from data center development to optimizing its global network, which serves as the backbone of its services. Currently, Google’s platform spans more than 200 countries and territories, supported by over 2 million miles of undersea cables.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, revealed that the Google Cloud global network now reaches 42 regions, with new expansions in Sweden, South Africa, and Mexico, along with rapid growth in Kuwait, Malaysia, and Thailand.

Google also unveiled its Cloud WAN (Cloud Wide Area Network), a private global network now available to all Google Cloud customers. This technology enables connections that are 40% faster and 40% more cost-efficient, allowing businesses worldwide to build reliable, secure, and efficient digital networks.

Major AI Breakthroughs: TPU Ironwood & Gemini 2.5

In the AI computing realm, Google introduced its seventh-generation TPU (Tensor Processing Unit), named Ironwood. This processor is engineered for high efficiency in computation, storage, and networking, serving as the new backbone for large-scale AI innovation.

Additionally, the launch of the latest AI model, Gemini 2.5, drew significant attention. The Gemini 2.5 Pro version is optimized for programming and complex tasks, while the Gemini 2.5 Flash version is designed for fast and efficient everyday use.

“These new features make advanced AI more accessible and affordable. Customers can now build AI solutions that understand context and solve real-world challenges,” Kurian explained.

Conclusion: Google Poised to Dominate the Global Tech Stage

Google’s $75 billion investment sends a strong signal to global markets and the tech industry that the company is committed to leading the AI and cloud computing revolution.

With a rapidly expanding digital infrastructure, world-class network efficiency, and cutting-edge chip and AI model innovations, Google is building a solid foundation for the future digital ecosystem—not only for large enterprises but also for everyday consumers.

This bold move is expected to energize tech stocks, particularly in the semiconductor and cloud services sectors, while intensifying competition in an increasingly mature AI era.
