3 hours ago | Data Center and Cloud Computing

Jakarta, INTI - Google Cloud considers Indonesia to be one of the most complete and integrated digital ecosystem markets, driven by its ability to bridge traditional industries with modern technological innovation.

This assessment was delivered by Karan Bajwa, President of Google Cloud Asia Pacific, during the Google Cloud Next 2026 held in Las Vegas on Thursday, April 23, 2026 (local time).

Strong Synergy Between Traditional and Digital Sectors

According to Bajwa, Indonesia stands out for its dynamic digital ecosystem, including a rapidly growing developer community and expanding digital data landscape, making it a highly comprehensive market.

He emphasized that Indonesia’s strength lies in the diversity of its industries, from banking and retail to telecommunications, all of which have demonstrated strong technological readiness.

Bajwa also highlighted the transformation of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, which is actively leveraging artificial intelligence to evolve into an AI-driven technology company (AI TechCo).

“We are very proud of what we have achieved together with our customers in Indonesia. We had the privilege of being among the first providers to launch a data center in the country,” he noted.

Southeast Asia as a Learning Ground for Technology

Google Cloud has also partnered with major Indonesian companies such as Salim Group, Gojek, and Tokopedia to accelerate digital transformation.

Bajwa described Southeast Asia as a microcosm of the broader Asia-Pacific region, featuring a mix of mature industries and rapidly growing digital economies.

“Our progress in Southeast Asia has provided valuable insights, allowing us to learn and apply those lessons across the wider Asia-Pacific market,” he explained.

As additional context, Indonesia is seen as strategically positioned due to its unique ability to combine strong traditional enterprises with a vibrant digital ecosystem, offering a more balanced landscape compared to countries like Singapore and Thailand.

Conclusion

Indonesia’s unique ability to integrate traditional industries with a fast-growing digital ecosystem positions it as one of the most complete and strategic markets for digital transformation in the Asia-Pacific region.
