Jakarta, INTI – Solo Techno Park, Central Java, buzzed with excitement as it hosted the prestigious Robosport Tournament FIRA Indonesia Open 2025 beginning on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Hundreds of participants from eight countries including Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Egypt, Laos, Yemen, and Pakistan gathered to showcase cutting-edge advancements in robotics and artificial intelligence (AI). The event is seen as a major step toward achieving the national vision of Golden Indonesia 2045 through technological innovation.
A total of 280 teams, or around 900 participants, from both domestic and international regions took part in competitions across various categories, including robot soccer, robot racing, and rescue simulation. Speed, strategy, and precision became key elements in demonstrating each team's capabilities.
More Than Just a Competition
Event Chairperson Wahyu Hidayat emphasized that this tournament is not merely a competition, but a serious effort to develop Indonesia’s robotics ecosystem. According to him, robosport has the potential to become a promising future sport under the tech-sports (Proposport) category.
“We hope this will become a great opportunity to advance Indonesia’s robotics industry and contribute to the success of Golden Indonesia 2045,” Wahyu said during the event's opening.
He also expressed pride in Solo being chosen as host city and hopes that this tournament will become an annual event a hub for young innovators to exchange ideas on robotics, AI, and coding.
Inspiring the Youth to Embrace Technology
Surakarta Mayor Respati Ardi also attended and expressed his appreciation to the organizers for choosing Solo as the host. He noted that such events are crucial in encouraging youth to confidently pursue careers in the tech sector.
“I’m proud and delighted, because this event inspires young people to believe in their potential in the tech field, which has such a bright future,” Respati said.
By blending competition with collaboration, this event serves as an informal yet impactful learning platform for students to build their skills in science and technology.
Fostering a Culture of Innovation Through Robosport
With the theme “Robotics and AI Innovation for Sustainable Progress,” the international tournament will run until June 27, 2025, and conclude on June 28 with a talk show and seminar on robotics technology. These final sessions are expected to strengthen the culture of innovation and research among Indonesia’s youth.
