Jakarta, INTI - The development of digital talent in regions is a crucial part of building a digitally skilled society ecosystem. The Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Nezar Patria, encourages universities to take an active role in developing human resources in the digital field.
"In addition to digital skills, we also want those (digital talent training participants) who are already skilled to become digital guides and develop the digital community ecosystem in Aceh," he said at the signing ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Communication and Information and the Islamic State University Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. The event was held in the Press Room of the Ministry of Communication and Information, Central Jakarta, on Monday (15/07/2024).
Memorandum of Understanding for Digital Development
This memorandum of understanding is expected to be the first step towards more concrete activities. Deputy Minister Nezar Patria emphasized the importance of measurable activities and various achievements in digital skills training programs.
"We hope this memorandum of understanding not only includes cooperation in the development of literacy and digital skills but also encompasses cooperation in training the faculty of UIN Ar-Raniry to also become trainers or digital guides," he explained.
Aceh's Commitment to Digital HR Development
Nezar Patria also appreciates the commitment and role of all parties in Aceh Province in efforts to develop human resources in the digital field. According to him, the development of digital community skills is directed towards strengthening the digital business ecosystem in Aceh.
"Therefore, one of the objectives of this memorandum of understanding, I believe, will be directed towards that, so it truly becomes a moment for the development of Indonesia's national human resources, especially those in Aceh," he asserted.
Hopes for the Future
Deputy Minister Nezar Patria hopes that the collaboration between the Ministry of Communication and Information and UIN Ar-Raniry can become a catalyst for encouraging innovation and better regional development.
"Because this can become a catalyst that can drive innovation, growth, and sustainability, both for the people of Aceh and for the Indonesian nation as a whole," he said.
Data and Facts on Digital Development in Indonesia
According to the latest data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the number of internet users in Indonesia reached 196 million in 2023, up from 175 million in 2021. This figure shows a great potential for the development of digital talent throughout the archipelago, including Aceh. The increasing use of the internet is expected to support digital literacy programs and skill enhancement in various regions.
Additionally, a report from the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) noted that internet penetration in Aceh has reached 72% of the total population, indicating that this region has great potential to become a center for digital development in Indonesia.
