Jakarta, INTI – The name Trend Micro is well known to many as a company initially recognized for its antivirus products. Over time, the company, founded in 1988 in the United States, has continued to innovate in cybersecurity. One of its latest innovations is an artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology called Cybertron.
Cybertron: AI Model for Cybersecurity
Cybertron is a large language model (LLM) developed by Trend Micro to predict, detect, secure, and remediate various cyber threats. This technology responds to the increasing use of AI in cyber attacks, such as deepfake, email and SMS phishing, and other AI-driven attacks.
According to Laksana Budiwiyono, Country Manager of Trend Micro Indonesia, cybercriminals are becoming more adept at leveraging AI. Therefore, Trend Micro must always stay ahead to protect its customers effectively.
Cybertron's Advantages in Cyber Threat Detection
Cybertron is built using the Llama 3.1 AI model and supported by Nvidia Inference Microservices (NIM) to accelerate deployment. This LLM has been trained with Trend Micro's cybersecurity data for 35 years, encompassing:
- Threat Intelligence from over 250 million sensors protecting 82 million assets across 175 countries.
- Machine Learning (ML) capable of detecting deepfake, phishing, malware, and user anomalies.
- Knowledge from 3,000 security experts with over 700 patents in cybersecurity technology.
- Over 20 years of research on vulnerabilities and zero-day attacks through the Trend Micro Zero Day Initiative, providing protection an average of 70 days faster than the industry standard.
With these advantages, Cybertron serves not only as AI for security but also as security for AI.
Cybertron Integration with Trend Micro Vision One
Cybertron integrates seamlessly with Trend Micro Vision One, a security monitoring platform covering PCs, servers, and cloud services. With this integration, Vision One becomes more proactive in detecting and preventing cyber attacks before they occur.
Key features of Cybertron within Vision One include:
- Proactive Detection: Analyzes potential threats before an attack happens.
- Comprehensive Threat Analysis: Aggregates data from multiple sources for more efficient investigations.
- Automated Response: Automatically isolates infected endpoints and blocks suspicious activities.
Cybertron also enhances the Companion chatbot within Vision One, enabling users to issue commands to check for cyber threats, conduct security research, and analyze potential system vulnerabilities.
Cybertron's Accuracy and Future Prospects
Like other AI models, Cybertron's accuracy is a key focus. Laksana Budiwiyono asserts that Cybertron currently boasts high accuracy and will continue to evolve to counter increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
As a strategic initiative, Trend Micro has made Cybertron open source, aiming to accelerate its development for more effective AI-driven cybersecurity solutions.
Currently, Trend Micro Vision One customers can access Cybertron for free, but in the future, the service may transition to a subscription-based model.
Conclusion
In an increasingly complex digital era where AI is used both for cybersecurity and cyberattacks, Cybertron marks a significant step forward in the cybersecurity industry. With its technological advancements, Cybertron not only provides robust protection for users but also contributes to the evolution of future cybersecurity.
