Jakarta, INTI – The electric vehicle industry has reached another historic milestone. Chinese aerospace technology company EHang Holding Vehicles officially unveiled its driverless flying taxi, the VT35, on October 13, 2025, in Hefei, Anhui Province. This innovation addresses modern mobility challenges amid increasing road congestion and the growing demand for environmentally friendly transportation.
With the ability to fly up to 200 kilometers on a single charge, EHang’s latest breakthrough could transform the way people travel between cities making it faster, more efficient, and emission-free.
VT35: The Next Generation Fully Autonomous Flying Taxi
The VT35 represents an evolution from its predecessor, the VT30, featuring significant upgrades in autonomous flight systems and energy efficiency. Designed for vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL), it uses eight lift propellers and one rear propulsion rotor, enabling it to operate in various environments such as rooftops, ports, and parking lots without the need for long runways like traditional aircraft.
In its latest demonstration, the VT35 successfully completed a full vertical-to-horizontal transition flight, marking a major step toward commercial flight readiness.
Efficient, Safe, and Comfortable for Passengers
The VT35 boasts an impressive 200 km range and a maximum speed of 215 km/h, achieved through its aerodynamic design and efficient electric propulsion system. The two-passenger cabin features luxurious leather interiors and an interactive touchscreen panel, serving as both a dashboard and entertainment center.
Temperature, seating, and navigation systems can be controlled remotely via voice commands or touch interface, offering a seamless in-flight experience.
On the safety side, the aircraft is equipped with obstacle detection and avoidance systems, as well as dual-redundancy control, ensuring flight stability and minimizing the risk of system failure during operation.
Paving the Way for the Autonomous Air Mobility Era
According to EHang’s Founder and CEO, Huazhi Hu, the development of pilotless air taxis is part of the company’s vision to create a safer, smarter, and greener low-altitude air mobility ecosystem.
“As a pioneer in pilotless eVTOL technology, EHang continues to optimize aircraft performance and expand its applications, so the public can experience sustainable air transportation,” said Hu in an official statement.
Commercial Trials and Global Pricing
EHang is currently conducting internal testing and airworthiness evaluations ahead of its global commercial launch. The VT35 flying taxi is expected to be priced at around USD 913,600, or approximately IDR 15.1 billion per unit.
Although the official operational schedule has yet to be announced, this milestone underscores China’s commitment to accelerating the transition toward autonomous air mobility in the global market.
Conclusion
The launch of the VT35 marks a defining moment in the evolution of next-generation air transportation. With its long range, high energy efficiency, and fully autonomous flight capabilities, EHang is setting a new standard for global e-mobility innovation.
This breakthrough is expected to provide a sustainable, safe, and efficient air mobility solution, connecting cities faster while minimizing environmental impact.
