Jakarta, INTI - The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) held a seminar and workshop titled "Fortifying the Digital Hospital: National Standards-Based Cybersecurity Strategy Towards Transforming Indonesian Healthcare Services" on July 8–9, 2026.
The event, held at Universitas Indonesia Hospital (RSUI), aimed to build a long-term collaborative space to realize a secure and efficient national digital healthcare ecosystem.
Opening the event, President Director of RSUI Kusuma Januarto expressed his appreciation for this strategic collaboration with BSSN as a concrete step towards facing future digitalization challenges.
Data Security Must be Prioritized
He noted that while digital transformation increases the speed and efficiency of hospital services, it also carries cyber risks that require strengthening patient data security as a shared responsibility.
Sulistyo, Deputy for Cyber Security, Government Encryption, and Human Resource Development at BSSN, emphasized the importance of protecting healthcare facilities' digital assets, such as medical records and telemedicine, which are now integrated into the SatuSehat platform.
This step is crucial considering that 56% of anomalies in the healthcare sector are currently dominated by malware due to negligence, such as the use of pirated software.
"Disturbances to information technology systems in hospitals are no longer just ordinary administrative incidents, but real threats that can directly impact patient safety," said Sulistyo in his keynote speech.
As a solution, BSSN is ready to facilitate comprehensive technical guidance for healthcare institutions committed to establishing a Cyber Incident Response Team (TTIS).
RSUI Continues to Increase Cyber Security Readiness
Meanwhile, the Director of Operations at RSUI, Tommy Dharmawan, emphasized in his keynote speech that hospital governance must be continuously updated to close security gaps.
RSUI continues to increase its cyber maturity level, which is achieved through the development of a well-partitioned database system, the implementation of multi-layered firewalls, and the selective use of AI to prevent data leaks while building reputation and public trust.
Lukman Nul Hakim, Director for Cyber Security, Government Encryption, and Human Resource Development at BSSN, explained the national regulation that requires the establishment of a structured TTIS in healthcare facilities, from the preparation phase to the evaluation phase.
This effort is considered crucial for mitigating various challenges in the field, such as management commitment, system complexity, budget constraints, and limitations in the quantity and quality of human resources.
In response to these challenges, the Manager of Hospital Information System & IT RSUI, Ahmad Firdausi, shared RSUI's experience in establishing TTIS (Integrated Healthcare Information System) in 2024.
To maintain the operational resilience of healthcare services 24/7, RSUI implemented a tactical approach by installing a security agent integrated directly into the Telegram application, allowing internal teams to receive real-time anomaly notifications.
Meanwhile, Cisco Business Solutions Architect, Hansel Gideon Gunawan, stated that 23% of global cyberattacks now target the healthcare sector due to the massive migration of offline to online services.
He emphasized that digitalization is not a temporary project, but rather a long-term capability that requires regular maturity assessments to map an institution's security position and determine future improvement directions.
