Palo Alto Networks Expands Cloud Security Infrastructure Across Asia-Pacific and Japan to Strengthen Local Cyber Defense

Jakarta, INTI – Palo Alto Networks is doubling down on its commitment to the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region with the launch of new cloud infrastructure in key markets including Australia, India, Indonesia, Japan, and Singapore. This investment aims to seamlessly integrate Prisma Access Browser with local systems — enabling secure browser-based access while helping organizations meet evolving data residency requirements.

As hybrid work models gain traction, browsers are fast becoming the nerve center of digital workflows. According to Gartner, enterprise browsers are expected to emerge as a central productivity and security platform by 2030 — offering protection across both managed and unmanaged devices.

The Risk at the Edge: Browsers and Unmanaged Devices

Traditional browsers remain one of the weakest security links in today’s digital environment, especially as threats like phishing, malware, account takeovers, and malicious browser extensions continue to rise. The rapid adoption of SaaS platforms, AI-powered tools, and the growing number of unmanaged devices in workplaces further complicate this risk landscape.

While these technologies boost workforce flexibility and efficiency, they also expand the attack surface — giving cybercriminals new avenues to exploit.

"Unmanaged endpoints are often the soft underbelly of an organization’s security posture," said Anupam Upadhyaya, Vice President of Product, Prisma SASE, Palo Alto Networks.

“With many organizations operating across distributed geographies, decrypting web traffic for threat inspection becomes a challenge. Alarmingly, on average, 64% of web data remains encrypted — invisible to traditional security tools."

He added that Palo Alto Networks’ new cloud zones across the region offer secure connections to all devices, whether managed or not — enabling better protection for sensitive assets and helping businesses bolster their cyber resilience.

Supporting Regional Demand for Data Sovereignty

According to Simon Green, President for Asia-Pacific and Japan, more organizations across the region are migrating critical workloads to the cloud.
He emphasized that this expansion reflects Palo Alto Networks’ ongoing mission to provide localized, best-in-class cybersecurity solutions while supporting regional compliance demands.

“Our expanded infrastructure ensures that local enterprises gain faster, safer access to cloud services while maintaining full control over where their data resides,” said Green.

A Call for Proactive Security in Indonesia

Speaking on Indonesia’s role in this initiative, Adi Rusli, Country Manager of Palo Alto Networks Indonesia, stressed the need for a scalable, agile, and resilient cybersecurity approach — particularly in the face of increasingly sophisticated AI-driven attacks that operate beyond traditional office perimeters.

“It’s critical that Indonesian organizations and business leaders proactively engage their security teams to fully grasp the implications of cloud-based workloads,” Rusli stated.

“With clear threat awareness and the right security measures in place, companies can empower their teams to work confidently from anywhere — while safeguarding sensitive data and core business systems.”

Regional Cloud Hosting: A Strategic Advantage

This regional expansion is more than infrastructure — it’s a statement of Palo Alto Networks’ long-term dedication to helping customers in APJ strike a balance between regulatory compliance and high-performance cybersecurity.

By hosting services locally, the company enables faster threat detection and response, reduces latency, and ensures seamless integration between threat protection and data residency — all within the same jurisdiction.
