Minister Agus Gumiwang Highlights Four Key Phases for Indonesia’s Industrial Transformation

Jakarta, INTI - During the seminar with stakeholders of Kadin Indonesia, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita elaborated on the roadmap for Indonesia’s industrial transformation toward 2045, where he outlined four critical phases in the process.

The first phase, "Strengthening Transformation," focuses on laying the foundation for the industrial sector by improving infrastructure, increasing the competitiveness of domestic industries, and encouraging innovation through the adoption of advanced technologies.

The second phase, "Accelerating Transformation," emphasizes speeding up the process of industrial digitization and automation, particularly in the manufacturing sector, with the aim of driving efficiency and competitiveness on a global scale.

The third phase, "Global Expansion," aims to position Indonesian industries as key players in the international market, expanding exports, and increasing foreign investment in the domestic sector. According to the Minister, achieving this phase will require coordinated efforts from multiple ministries and institutions.

Finally, the fourth phase envisions Indonesia becoming a "Sustainable Global Manufacturing Hub" by 2045. This phase focuses on transforming the manufacturing sector to be environmentally friendly, leveraging green technologies, and ensuring that Indonesia becomes a leader in sustainable industrial practices on a global level.

Minister Agus stressed that collaboration with Kadin and other stakeholders is essential for the success of this transformation. "We cannot achieve these ambitious goals alone; collaboration between the government, private sector, and academia is crucial to realize Indonesia’s vision for 2045," he stated.

The Minister also reiterated the importance of revising the Industrial Law to accommodate the rapid changes in the industrial landscape, particularly in terms of technological advancements and environmental sustainability.
