Jakarta, INTI – Amid the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), Indonesian students are being reminded not to remain complacent in their technological comfort zones. Digital practitioner and observer Motulz Anto emphasized this point during the seminar “Creative Revolution: Bringing Human Imagination into the Digital World,” organized by the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) at the Museum of Information, TMII, East Jakarta, last Tuesday.
AI Is Not a Shortcut to Achievement
Speaking to 160 students from four educational institutions across Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek), Motulz encouraged participants not to fear making mistakes during the learning process. He warned that relying too heavily on AI to produce flawless work could suppress curiosity and hinder students’ exploratory spirit.
“Making mistakes is part of learning. Don’t be afraid to get things wrong when doing your assignments. AI can be dangerous if students depend on it solely to avoid errors,” said Motulz Anto.
AI Is a Tool, Not a Substitute for Thinking
Motulz stressed that AI is merely a tool and can never replace human reasoning and intellect. Without human guidance, AI cannot produce meaningful results.
“AI operates based on data and instructions. The true value of the output is still determined by humans,” he explained.
He emphasized the importance of students staying mentally active and not handing over the entire learning process to technology.
Imagination: A Human Strength That AI Can’t Replicate
One of the most vital qualities humans possess — and which AI lacks — is imagination. Motulz described imagination as the primary source of creativity, innovation, and originality, elements that cannot simply emerge from data sets.
“Humans are gifted with the ability to imagine what doesn’t yet exist. That’s our greatest strength compared to AI,” he asserted.
He urged the younger generation to recognize that their true power lies not just in operating technology, but in creating new ideas born from imagination.
Be a Creator, Not Just a Consumer of Technology
With the right understanding, Motulz believes today’s students can be more than just users of technology. They have the potential to become creators who generate solutions, produce works, and spark innovations with the help of AI — rather than being replaced by it.
“AI is just a tool. Human imagination and emotion are irreplaceable,” he concluded.
Conclusion: Master Technology — Don’t Let It Master You
This seminar served as a vital reminder that the sophistication of AI should not stop humans from thinking. In this increasingly digital era, students are challenged to maintain their humanity: to be unafraid of mistakes, to keep learning, and to continue imagining. Only then can AI truly serve as a tool — not a replacement.
