Jakarta, INTI – Google Indonesia and Unity are once again launching the Google Play x Unity Training for the third consecutive year, this time with a major innovation: the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the training curriculum. This initiative is designed to equip participants with the latest skills to create more innovative games that keep pace with technological advancements.
"We want to ensure that in this era of AI, developers are equipped with the latest AI technologies. They’ll learn how to use these tools to enhance creativity and innovation," said Karen Teo, Vice President, Platforms & Devices Partnership Asia Pacific.
Internship Opportunities for Alumni: Supporting Young Developers’ Careers
Beyond just curriculum content, the training program also opens career pathways through an internship program for 2024 alumni. In collaboration with the Indonesian Game Association, participants gain direct access to local game companies.
"This enhancement is part of our ongoing effort to strengthen developers' capabilities, enabling them to run successful game projects and build independent career paths," Karen added.
500 Participants from 10 Provinces: Reaching Promising Talent Across Indonesia
This year, the program targets 500 participants from 10 provinces across Indonesia. This highlights the commitment of Google and Unity to broaden their reach and embrace more talent from various regions—ensuring that opportunities are not limited to those in major cities.
Government Support: Building an Inclusive Digital Ecosystem
The Ministry of Creative Economy, through the Deputy of Digital Creativity and Technology, Muhammad Neil El Himam, welcomed this collaboration. He emphasized the importance of synergy between government and the tech industry in nurturing a competent creative economy workforce.
“This collaboration is expected to create high-quality job opportunities. The number of workers in the creative economy is substantial, and improving their quality requires models like the Google Play x Unity Training,” he stated.
Alumni Stories and the Hope for a More Inclusive Future
Juli Yanti, a 2024 alumna now working as a software developer, shared how the program opened up opportunities for learning and collaboration. She also voiced her hope that the program would become more accessible to people with disabilities in the future.
“I hope next year Google Indonesia will offer this opportunity to people with disabilities as well,” she said.
Conclusion: Driving Digital Transformation Through Progressive Education
The Google Play x Unity Training 2025 program demonstrates how tech education can evolve by incorporating AI, offering internships, and reaching participants across the country. With strong support from both the government and industry, this training initiative marks a strategic step in shaping a new generation of game developers who are not only technically proficient but also ready to grow a globally competitive local game industry.
