INTI, Jakarta- PT Inti Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Persero) or PT INTI has taken bold steps to support domestic technology self-sufficiency by producing various digital products. From telecommunications devices to cloud services, PT INTI is committed to displacing imported products in this industry.
According to PT INTI's CEO, Edi Witjara, existing data shows that a significant portion of telco equipment is still imported from abroad, reaching nearly 90 percent. However, this is not anyone's fault as the government has implemented regulations like the Domestic Component Level (Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri - TKDN). The domestic industry must face this challenge by continuously exploring available opportunities.
There are two key factors that domestic players must possess to compete: quality and price. Setting high-quality standards is a must, but competitive pricing is also essential to attract local product demand.
At PT INTI, they have identified their target market segments, including the government sector, private sector, small and medium enterprises, and retail. For instance, the laptop market in Indonesia holds significant potential, with government departments alone spending Rp 6 trillion annually on these devices. However, currently, most of these devices are still imported from abroad.
To address this, PT INTI has launched laptops under the INTI brand. They also offer cloud services that are ready for use. Customers have already started utilizing these services, and there has been positive feedback from consumers about these products.
Such steps demonstrate PT INTI's commitment to supporting domestic technology self-sufficiency and hopefully serve as an example to other industries to reduce their dependency on imported products. By maintaining quality and competitive pricing, the domestic technology industry can thrive and compete in the global market.***. Hans
