Paris, INTI - Representing the Indonesian Government, Minister of Economic Affairs Coordination Airlangga Hartarto received the OECD Accession Roadmap for Indonesia at the opening of the OECD Ministerial Meeting in Paris, France, on May 2. This ceremony signifies a further step in Indonesia's accession process to the OECD.
This accession process aligns with Indonesia's efforts to enhance collaboration with all OECD members. The close cooperation between both parties aims to enable better policies for better lives, echoing the OECD motto, "Better Policies for Better Lives."
"With 80% of global trade and investment represented, OECD membership and standards are crucial to ensuring an inclusive and sustainable global economy. Joining the OECD allows Indonesia to strengthen its constitutional commitment to participate in the global order, to promote freedom, eternal peace, and social justice," stated Minister Airlangga during the handover process.
With Indonesia's accession, there are currently seven countries with candidate accession status, including Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Croatia, Indonesia, Peru, and Romania. Indonesia's relationship with the OECD dates back to 2007 when Indonesia became a key partner of the OECD. The OECD has been a strategic partner for Indonesia in refining policies and standards, benefiting society, governance, and the business world.
Also present to witness the handover of Indonesia's membership roadmap alongside Minister Airlangga were the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, the Secretary of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Deputy for International Economic Cooperation Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to France, Andorra, Monaco, and the Permanent Delegation of the Republic of Indonesia to UNESCO
